Looking for a spooky scare or Halloween family friendly fun? There’s a lot of fun things to do in Atlanta this October. Here’s a quick list of my top picks.
IHOP is offering free “scary face pancakes” for kids from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. (Friday, October 28).
Howl-o-ween Fall Festival – Saturday, Oct 29 12:00p to 5:00p
Sponsored by Radio Disney, Midtown Bridge and Doguroo. Select retailers and restaurants throughout the community will participate in trick-or-treating. The Howl-o-Ween Fall Festival will also feature carnival activities, face painting, make-and-take crafts and fall favorites like candy apples.
Boo at the Zoo – Saturdays and Sundays, October 22, 23, 29 and 30
This signature seasonal event invites guests of all ages to sample sweet treats, meet whimsical costume characters, and enjoy live entertainment. Costumes are not only welcome, but encouraged: costume contests will take place during each day of the event.
Georgia Aquarium – Oct. 29 – 30
On Saturday, Oct. 29, and Sunday, Oct. 30, all kids 12 and under in costume will receive free general admission.* Get in the spirit with Georgia A-Scary-Um, which will be decked out with Halloween decorations. Visit the trick-or-treat candy stations in each gallery while Halloween music plays throughout the world’s largest aquarium. Then, participate in the Halloween-themed arts and crafts tables and costume contests throughout the day!
Netherworld Haunted House – October 2nd - 31st and the first weekend in Nov.
To find the scariest haunted house in Atlanta follow the spotlights to Netherworld. If you enjoy walking through dark rooms filled with terrifying live actors, amazing special effects, and incredible monsters, this is the place for you.
Oakland Cemetery Halloween Tours - Friday, October 28; Saturday, October 29; and Sunday, October 30, 2011
Historic Oakland Cemetery receives many visitors each day, but only at Halloween do its gates stay open after dark. Witness the magnificent final resting place of Atlanta’s sons and daughters during “Capturing the Spirit of Oakland” 2009 Halloween Tours.
Scream on the Green at Centennial Olympic Park – Oct. 31
Dress up the kids, grab a blanket and join Peachtree TV for a new Halloween tradition! Enjoy trick or treating, a free screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and fun for the whole family in a fun and secure environment. Gates open at 5 p.m., movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
Six Flags Fright Fest– Saturdays and Sundays in October
It’s Chills by Day and Thrills by Night as Six Flags is transformed into a frightening playland with ghouls, ghosts and goblins roaming the midways. Families and kids alike will enjoy the fun activities throughout the day, but once the sun goes down, weary guests beware!
Underground Atlanta will host a free Halloween carnival on Saturday night, featuring 20 acts with over 100 performances including fire breathers, stilt walkers, dancers, acrobats, aerialists, magicians and more.
